Serving Kids, an 18 year-old program of Jeffco Schools Foundation, expressed its heartfelt appreciation for the Southwest Plaza partnership that allowed it to store clothing at the mall over the past several years.
Serving Kids is an all-volunteer run program that provides new and near-new clothing to Jeffco Public Schools students in need. In the past school year, Serving Kids has once again given clothing to over 1,000 students in a record 115 Jeffco schools. Approximately 232 of those were homeless students. What distinguishes this program from other Jefferson County resources is that the requests come from Jeffco schools and the clothing is discreetly delivered to the students at their school.
“We wouldn’t be able to complete our clothing requests without the help of our community partners, like Southwest Plaza,” said Nancy Hoffmaster, spokesperson for the program. “The space the mall provided allowed us to store donated clothing in an organized way before it was sent to schools for students. We’d like to thank Greg Simms, Southwest Plaza’s general manager and his staff, as well as Dick’s Sporting Goods for allowing us to interrupt their businesses in order to access our clothing storage.”
Serving Kids clothing donations may be dropped off at Jeffco Schools Foundation, 809 Quail St., Bldg. #1, Lakewood, CO 80215, Monday through Friday from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.
