Westminster 710 Rotary Club and Westminster Centennial Committee partnered with Jeffco Schools Foundation to distribute copies of Westminster: The First 100 Years to area elementary schools.
Westminster 710 Rotary designated the following Jeffco Public Schools to receive complimentary books: Adams, Lukas, Ryan, Semper, Sheridan Green, Swanson, Thomson, Weber, Witt elementary schools and Jefferson Academy and Woodrow Wilson charters.
The pictorial volume by Kimberly Field and Kelly Kordes Anton is a comprehensive history of the region from Native Americans and pioneer settlers through to present day. Librarians welcomed the addition to school libraries.
“Communities don’t exist in dioramas,” said Bob Briggs, Westminster Mayor Pro Tem. “They change and grow. The heart of Westminster will change, but the spirit that created it will not. We felt that Westminster’s future leaders being created in our schools, needed to know our shared history.”
Additional copies of “Westminster: The First 100 Years” are available by contacting Mr. Briggs at: bob.briggs@comcast.net.
