Frank DeAngelis’ career spans more than 35 years in public education as teacher, coach and principal. He has been the face of Jeffco Public Schools’ Columbine High School for the past 18 years, and he has led the school and community through the best and worst of times.
In honor of his countless contributions to Columbine and to students and schools around the country, Jeffco Schools Foundation will present DeAngelis with the 2014 Norma Anderson Lifetime Service Award.
The presentation will be the keynote of the fifth annual Love Our Schools Luncheon, a fundraising event to benefit the programs of Jeffco Schools Foundation. The luncheon will take place from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Thursday, April 10 at the Arvada Center for the Arts and Humanities.
Created in recognition of Jefferson County legislator and education advocate Sen. Norma Anderson, the Lifetime Service Award honors individuals who have made Jefferson County and Jeffco Public Schools a thriving, vibrant community.
“It will be hard to imagine Jeffco without Frank DeAngelis,” said Katie Tiernan, Jeffco Schools Foundation executive director. “He really embodies the spirit of the award, both in his years of commitment to Jeffco students and his insistence over the years that tragedy not define Columbine High School.”
The luncheon is an invitation-only event for Jeffco Schools Foundation. Space is limited. To host a table or sponsor the event, contact Katie Tiernan at 303-982-2261 or by email at ktiernan@jeffco.k12.co.us.
